There are many ways to vote in Kansas – thank goodness!
If you work during the day, and can’t go in late or leave early, and have other rush hour responsibilities, Election Day voting just may not work for you!
Luckily, in Kansas we have Advance by Mail, Early in Person, and Election Day voting opportunities. Let’s take a look at those for Ward 3.
Advance by Mail
The benefit, I believe, for Advance Voting by Mail, in addition to doing it on your own time and not conflicting with work and other responsibilities, is that you can vote at your own kitchen table and do your research or have your list handy nearby while you’re filling it out without the pressure of lines of people waiting behind you.
To request your Advance Ballot, go to: www.ksvotes.org ASAP. They started mailing ballots out on Wednesday, 10/16/2019.
Fill in your voter identifying information, and click “Check My Registration”.

Once the system confirms you’re registered, it will say, “Success! We found your Kansas voter registration”, and you click the second box down which is outlined in red and says, “Apply for Advanced Ballot”. 🙂

A default option, if the above doesn’t work for you is this PDF form that you can fill out and fax in: https://jocoelection.org/sites/default/files/advapp.pdf

Permanent Advance by Mail
If you have a permanent disability or have been diagnosed with a permanent illness, you can apply for a Permanent Advance Voter status. Follow the same instructions as above, and then there is a box you can check for Permanent Advance Vote.
Early in Person
Depending on where your errands or activities take you in the evenings and on weekends, there are multiple locations across the county accessible to you for Early in Person voting. I have personally Voted Early at three of these locations! 😆
And, yes, you still get an “I Voted” sticker! 😆 😆

Election Day
In Ward 3, there are three precincts, and each precinct has a different polling place. Your voter informational card should have arrived in the mail by now (they’re typically neon colors), and it will tell you exactly where to vote.
I have heard that a number of polling locations have changed from previous years, so double-check where you should be going to vote.
Here is a precinct map of Ward 3 (01 to 03 are highlighted & numbered left to right):

If you don’t have your voter informational mailer and you’re not sure even with the map above, you can double-check your polling place HERE. That’s your best resource: to check online yourself, that is.
Just for reference, here are the polling places that I know about:
Ward 3 Precinct 01 Polling Place
Name Mission Road Community of Christ
Address 7842 Mission Rd
Location Description Voter Entrance: Main West
Poll Open/Close 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Ward 3 Precinct 02 Polling Place
Name Colonial Church in Prairie Village
Address 7039 Mission Rd
Location Description Social Hall, enter back Lower Level on East Side via Double Doors
Poll Open/Close 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Ward 3 Precinct 03 Polling Place
Name Prairie Village Community Center
Address 7720 Mission Rd
Location Description Main North entrance
Poll Open/Close 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
And that’s it! If you’ve never voted before, Municipal Elections are a great place to start! Make 2019 the year you cast your first ballot!
