Thank you SO much for responding to my COVID Recovery Poll!
The click-throughs from that email almost quintupled my regular weekly emails, so I’m wondering what you find most useful from me when it comes to keeping you up-to-date on Council and City (and even County) happenings.
Here is the first question of maybe a few to narrow it down:

Thank you for your input, so I can bring you the information you most want to know about!

I do not feel closing the city pool and canceling team events is necessary seeing that most of the city does not have the COVID 19 virus and there are policies that can be put in place to protect ourselves and others. Swimmers in competition are not within 6 feet of each other and there is no contact in competition swimming or diving, coaches can wear masks. General swimmers can be grouped in the pools of groups less than 10. Elderly can be required to use the pool early in the day, like at the grocery store. Limit attendance and put chaises 6 feet apart. Tell the board we can do it! Itβs not that hard! This not Brooklynn or LA or Detroit… this PV for goodness sake

Hi, Beth.
Thank you for your input!
It’s important that residents understand that PV didn’t cancel team events – that is out of our purview. I will try to do a better job of explaining that this week.
Please note that this decision was made by the Johnson County Swim & Dive LEAGUE. Not these individual cities.
The Johnson County Swim and Dive League includes municipal pool swim teams from the following cities:
* Fairway
* Leawood
* Lenexa
* Merriam
* Olathe
* Overland Park
* PRAIRIE VILLAGE
* Roeland Park
* Shawnee
(Westwood and Mission are in the MoKan Swim & Dive League.)
The PV City Council will be considering TONIGHT whether to keep the pool closed for the 2020 season or not. I have several questions for staff regarding this: such as “Considering the leak in the adult pool, would it be able to open at all in 2020”, and “What does an open pool complex look like following state guidelines and phasing?”
If you have specific questions, too, please shoot them to me at bonnieforpv@gmail.com, and I will try to get an answer for you. π
Thank you again,
Bonnie
