Johnson County Parks & Recreation and the Johnson County Museum just published this article on the Shawnee Mission Post about J.C. Nichols & Johnson County.
It has more information than most of the short-form articles published in the last few years on the topic.
Inside JCPRD: J.C. Nichols & Johnson County
Please take a few minutes to check it out!
Also, when you have time and/or feel safe, consider visiting the Johnson County Museum. Their permanent exhibit ($5) addresses (however briefly sometimes) the shameful racial exclusion and other issues throughout the JoCo timeline.
Note that my daughter and I visited the museum two Fridays ago, and we were practically the only ones there, so we felt VERY safe. Even when another couple showed up, the Museum has safety procedures in place to protect visitors. 🙂
For more info on the featured image above, visit the Johnson County Museum Historical Preservation site.
Enjoy and have a great weekend!
