The Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) has invited parents and community members for a live community conversation on December 3rd. Because this will be a vote for all residents within the SMSD boundaries, I want to share with all of you to make sure you know.
Please join us for a community conversation focused on the upcoming 2021 bond proposal in the Shawnee Mission School District community.
SMSD Live, will first air live at 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Viewers will also be able to watch the event on-demand after it airs. Links to view the presentation will be posted on www.smsd.org and the district’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.
The discussion will feature panelists from the community who will be on-hand to discuss how the proposed $264 million bond is designed to support facility upgrades, with a focus on elementary rebuilds and student learning.
We will be taking questions now and through the live event and will incorporate questions we have received from our community. Please email your questions for SMSD Live to askthedistrict@smsd.org. A text line will also be available during the event.
We are grateful to our community for their attention to the proposal and for their consideration as the mail-in ballot election approaches. Our community can also learn more about the proposed bond here: https://www.smsd.org/bond-2021
from SMSD Communications
The Bond proposal will be a vote via mail just like the last SMSD Bond proposal in 2015, and the ballots will hit our mailboxes in January 2021.
If you’re interested, tune in; and if you have questions, send them to the email address above!
Take care and stay well,
