From City of PV eNews:
“Beginning Friday, June 4, the adult pool and lap pool at the Prairie Village pool complex will be closed for repairs.
“Sunday morning (5/30) crews determined that there is still a leak in the adult pool and lap pool. These two pools function as one in the way the piping and filtration systems were built. Crews did extensive leak testing last year, and determined that there was a clear leak under the adult pool in a supply pipe (water returning to the pool). A repair was made earlier this year.
“On Sunday when crews arrived for water testing, the adult pool was down 13 inches. This leak is now more significant than we have experienced in the past, and is not a leak we can keep adding water to in order to keep the pools open all summer. Public Works staff met with contractors this week to develop a plan to address the leak. Together, they determined crews will have to dig down (10 to 12 Feet) between the adult pool and the filter house to isolate the piping that goes between the filter house and these two pools. Once these two pipes are isolated, additional testing will be conducted to determine what is causing the leak. The adult pool and lap pool will remain closed during the duration of the work.
“We’re sorry for the inconvenience this will cause for pool guests.”
