The Prairie Village City Council will have three newly elected councilmembers soon. These three gentlemen worked hard to talk to as many PV residents as possible and blew away the previous voter turnout numbers for their wards! Welcome to Cole Robinson in Ward 1, Dave Robinson in Ward 4, and Greg Shelton in Ward 5!

Ron Nelson in Ward 2 and Terrence Gallagher in Ward 6 will also be staying with us on Council, and a name you may recognize, Lauren Wolf, rolled into Tucker Poling’s Ward 3 seat uncontested. So FOUR new faces, two familiar faces, and another 2 years of great things ahead for Prairie Village!
As for the Shawnee Mission School District, I am so pleased to share (as if you haven’t heard) that Mary Sinclair and Heather M.F. Ousley retained their seats in landslides, and newcomer April Boyd-Noronha also garnered a decisive victory! (And even though I’ve heard more than a few troubling anecdotes about Mary Sinclair’s constituent interactions in the last few days, she’s still better than the alternative. I’ll be watching her closely to see if she improves and learns from these SMSD families that want her to do better, particularly around diversity issues in SMSD.)

That’s my update. Thank you to everyone who voted. Thank you to ALL the poll workers for that 14-hour day they basically volunteered to us! Democracy is not a spectator sport – stay in the game!! 🙂
